LOULOU PATISSERIE

Lou Lou is an online patisserie shop based in Bandung. Specialising in hand painted macarons, our visually pleasing sweet treats will give you a whole new perspective of the dessert world. Then afterwards, if you’re feeling like making one for yourself, we are not shy to share our knowledge through workshops!

Brief History

Ever since Jesslyn was an oblivious little girl, her eyes would always light up whenever a chocolate advertisement comes on the TV. Her love for the sweet treat is so big that she never leaves home without a block of chocolate in her bag. She then began to wonder how chocolate came to be, wanting to have a deeper appreciation for it.

It was 2008 when Jesslyn and her sister, Jessica, strolled around Orchard Road, Singapore. The road was packed with different shopping malls housing many different designer clothes stores but these particular siblings found themselves in a huge bookstore. They spent half an hour browsing the shop looking at the vast range of books, but their eyes have been fixated to one. A recipe book for beginner. Spending their allowance on it, they proudly showed their mom whom which was also excited to help them bake. 

Not long after, history was made. It was the first time Jesslyn has ever baked! The thumbprint cookies with orange zest she baked, as imperfect as it might be, will always be the one recipe she holds close to heart.

Practice does make perfect. As Jesslyn grows older, she decided to start what was called Whip It Patisserie. She sold primarily tiramisu, opera cakes, red velvet and cookies. Jesslyn would then take feedback from her friends, keep notes of it, make adjustments and learn along the way. From then, she discovered the little baking mistakes she did and realized that every single detail in the kitchen matters. A lot.

To further expand her knowledge base of the patisserie world, she decided to study overseas after graduating from high school in 2015. 

During her time in Melbourne, she tried looking for part time jobs but it wasn’t much of a success. On the other hand, she looked into another option and decided to start an online patisserie shop!

The initial idea was to bring up Whip It Patisserie again, but this time Jesslyn wanted to add a professional flair to it. With that in mind, she asked around for name inspirations and her sister came up with the name LOU LOU, a combination of Jesslyn’s last name, Lionel and their mom’s nickname, Lulu. She fell in love with the name and signed it off as the official name of the brand.

Lou Lou has been growing its brand name ever since by selling many types of pastry, conducting many workshops as well as having a pop up booth every now and then. It is now the brand we all know and love.
